In 2016 Her Majesty The Queen celebrates her 90th birthday. This historic event is to be celebrated by peoples from around the world as well as her subject's here in the United Kingdom. The Online Book Company commissioned us to design a special Birthday Book to mark this momentous occasion. This online book gives people the opportunity to post their very own and personal birthday message to Her Majesty, along with pictures and even videos. Since it's launch in April 2016 it has attracted messages left by a host of celebrities including Jamie Oliver, Dame Vera Lynn, Alan Titchmarsh, even The London Symphony Orchestra!
The brief was in several parts. The first stage was to produce an eye-catching and distinctive emlem or motif that reflected the rich royal history and majesty of the event, but that wasn't too 'stuffy' or 'pompous' - an iconic mark with mass appeal. The concept was to create 'a gift to the queen' which was cleverly realised by designing a royal crown from a single and continuous ribbon. Buckingham Palace were delighted with the approach and approved the icon, which was subsequently incorporated into a design for the online birthday book itself, as well as various printed collateral that included promotional materials and stationery items.
Working with the team at Toucan has been a delight! The design work produced for both on and off line marketing collateral for The Queen’s Birthday Book is stunning and exceeded our (high) expectations. Furthermore the work has been admired by a Global audience in 62 Countries. The team are proactive, highly responsive and represent great value for money which in this sector is refreshing.
