Branding & Visual Identity
Exeter City is a football club with a long and proud history. It offers a truly authentic football experience in the heart of the city of Exeter and the County of Devon and is at the very centre of the community it serves. Their vision is to be an outstanding community-owned club playing football at the highest sustainable level. The club has a many and varied group of stakeholders, from the players and staff, to supporters and fan groups, members of 'the Trust', along with community grass roots football training, a Football Academy and a hard-working health and wellbeing charity called the CITY Community Trust.
In 2015 the Club decided it needed a cohesive visual identity to pull together the various facets under one distinctive and identifiable brand. A schematic approach was developed that cleverly links the individual elements, whilst giving each their own identity. A clear set of brand guidelines was created to ensure that a consistency of colour, typographic treatments and the use of the logos and badges was maintained. More recently a 'Grecian Helmet' sub brand was developed and introduced as a merchandising mark, it was accompanied with the strapline 'Our Team – My City'.
