We are delighted to announce that this year’s winner of our Toucan Typography Award is Plymouth University student Emma Leigh. Emma, who is a third year undergraduate, beat more than 25 competitors with her project to rebrand an independent theatre. She wins the £100 prize, plus the offer of a portfolio review by the Toucan design team.
The standard of work was once again very high, and the decision difficult, but we were particularly impressed with Emma's work for Tobacco Factory Theatres near her home in Bristol. We felt that it was a very well-rounded and realised body of work which demonstrates a high sense of design aesthetic. What’s more, it is a highly believable and commercially viable design solution.
We make the award each year for the student who demonstrates "flair, imagination, creativity and quality in the design, use and/or application of typography within their work" and have been giving this award for the past eight years.
We hope that Emma is pleased with her prize and wish her all the very best for the future.
