The 8th October 1996 saw the launch of the National Poetry Day – a day when we are all encouraged to break away from ‘the tyranny of prose’ for 24 hours and think of poems, sharing poems and using your imagination. 21 years later and the event continues to grow and develop. Lots of events are being held across the country to celebrate poetry in all its many and varied forms.
Radio 4 is weaving poetry into it’s schedule telling the story of Britain through poetry and this year’s theme is ‘light’. Here at Toucan we are delighted to learn that some of the poetry from a book we have recently designed may be featured in the schedule and so we will be glued to Radio 4 listening out for extracts from ‘Fish Eaters’. To take a sneak preview of the book click here. The book is priced at £12.99 and can be purchased from University of Plymouth Press.
